MOTS-c

What Is MOTS-c?
MOTS-c, or mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA-c, is a peptide encoded within mitochondrial genetic material. It was identified through research examining communication between mitochondria and the rest of the cell.
Early studies found that MOTS-c influences metabolic signaling pathways, including pathways connected with cellular energy sensing and AMPK activity.
Most published evidence comes from cell and animal models, although formal human clinical development has begun.

Current Research
Research has focused on mitochondrial communication, metabolic homeostasis, cellular stress responses, and skeletal muscle physiology.
